The storage solution Sun should have built

The HP MediaSmart Server EX485 is a diminutive low-power device that provides backup and storage service for all your home computers. It runs Windows Home Server, uses commodity hardware and supports Mac & iTunes, all while providing space for 4 internal drives. It also happens to have just won the MacWorld 2009 Best of Show award. Oh, and before I forget, Amazon has it for $569 right now.

What surprises me is the who makes this product, or maybe I should say, who doesn't make this product. HP released this, but Sun should have. Sun still could, and Sun could still make a superior product, but of course, they won't. A consumerized version of Sun FishWorks interface would do well, and ZFS would provide great snapshot features and compression for user data. Sun has all the software, the hardware is commodity, but I suppose the vision is just not there.
